Esteban Azuela

Esteban Azuela was a Mexican painter whose modernist works captured the socio-cultural essence of early 20th-century Mexico. Born on July 7, 1902, in Guadalajara, Mexico, Esteban Azuela grew up amidst the cultural upheavals of the Mexican Revolution. Educated at the Academy of San Carlos, his style evolved from his exposure to European modernist movements. He returned to Mexico, where his works became a cornerstone of Mexican Modernism until his death on May 26, 1957.
